Anne LaForti is a soil nerd, myco enthusiast, and all-around biophile (nature lover). She has a master’s degree in Biomimicry and is a project manager supporting nature-based innovation in the built environment and beyond at Biomimicry 3.8.
Anne has a deep interest in ITEK (Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledge), gardening, permaculture, urban and regenerative agriculture, and growing nutrient-dense foods. Anne was the 2022 Spring Nature, Art, and Habitat Residency (NAHR) Fellow in Santa Ynez, working on “Soil as Pattern Language: Emulating Healthy Soil Communities” and is currently a NAHR Ambassador.

Farid is a passionately curious thinker and problem solver. As a Certified Biomimicry Professional, he leverages geotechnical engineering, design thinking, and biomimicry to discover and implement innovative strategies that enable breakthrough sustainable and regenerative solutions.
Farid brings over 16 years of technical consulting experience with a strong record of innovating within integrative multidisciplinary teams. At Biomimicry 3.8, he leads and executes a variety of biomimicry innovation projects through his role as a biomimic and project manager. He holds a Master of Science in Biomimicry from Arizona State University and a Master of Geosciences from University of London.
Biomimicry Chemistry
Mark Dorfman’s innovative work showcases that nature is alive with chemistry. He shares the important premise that nature, by necessity, has developed sophisticated, highly effective chemistries that create conditions conducive to life.
As a biomimicry chemist, Mark applies nature’s time-tested design principles for chemical strategies to find innovative solutions to toxic chemical and material challenges, which has led to a career that has inspired many to see nature in new way. Most recently, Mark has spoken at the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit, the 20th Annual Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference, and the Circular Economy Forum of the Americas.

Zeynep is a Certified Biomimicry Professional with a business background. Her passion is to use nature’s strategies to transform the conventional ways of conducting business—particularly to redesign business strategies, processes, and models. She brings this unique, conceptual lens to projects, as well as 20+ years of experience as a consultant and educator.
In conjunction with her project management and marketing role at Biomimicry 3.8, she teaches biomimicry and business courses in the Master of Science (MS) in biomimicry program at Arizona State University. She holds an MS in biomimicry, an MBA, and a BA in political science & international relations.
Sustainability, Strategy, Ideation
Rachel is a systems thinker with a background in environmental science. Her professional experience led her to look for a more impactful place to intervene in the system, and in 2013, Rachel was introduced to biomimicry and was immediately hooked. She is a Certified Biomimicry Professional and holds a Master of Science in Biomimicry from Arizona State University.
Rachel uses her wide diversity of skills to manage and support Biomimicry 3.8 projects, as well as provide internal thought leadership support. Before joining B3.8, Rachel was a sustainability professional for 16+ years, managing multi-disciplinary project teams and providing technical support to deliver sustainability and environmental program development and implementation services for both private and public sector clients.
