About the Author

Coming from an architecture and green building background, Erin Rovalo weaves her design thinking expertise with the biomimicry approach to amplify the creativity needed to solve complex sustainability challenges. Erin has taught iSites in biomimicry workshops since 2010 and an eight-week iSites course in the MSc Biomimicry program at Arizona State University since 2015. As a Certified Biomimicry Professional, Erin has extensive experience discovering and applying nature’s genius in a wide range of design sectors and challenges such as the built environment, packaging design, aerospace, cosmetics, food and beverage, and organizational development. She toggles between practice as a design consultant and academics as an instructor and PhD candidate researching biomimicry design practice.

Her goal is to connect designers with the natural world as a source of inspiration and optimism as they endeavor to make the world a better place.
