The National Bioneers Conference “A revolution from the heart of nature,” begins next week and biomimicry–in many forms and functions–will most definitely be there.

The annual conference, which runs in San Rafael from October 21-23, will feature a keynote address from Janine Benyus and include the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge “Ray of Hope” Prize, panels on What Would a Biomimetic Food System Look Like?, and Biomimicry Education.

Janine’s talk will be introduced by Paul Hawken, and will show how nature-inspired breakthroughs in agriculture are evolving from plant-focused “silver bullets” to system-savvy healing. She’ll give us a sneak preview of the amazing entries in the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge in food systems.

“The Ultimate Symbiosis: Biomimicry as a Cooperative Inquiry” will be presented by Janine at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 22.

Janine’s keynote will be immediately followed by the first-ever awards ceremony for the world’s premiere biomimicry design prize, the $100,000 Ray C. Anderson Foundation “Ray of Hope” Prize. The prize will be awarded to one of seven finalist teams in the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge, a worldwide design competition that crowdsources nature-inspired solutions to climate change issues, like food systems, water management, and alternative energy through The Biomimicry Institute.
